This painting is based on a photo I took while hiking in Panthertown Valley, Cashiers, NC. It is a hundred-year-old abandoned Christmas tree farm, surrounded by the lush diversity of the Nantahala National Forest.

The photo this was based on was taken at Water Rock Knob, on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was near dusk and a storm was rolling in, but a distant ridge was bathed in bright pools of sunlight. I am lucky to live among countless breathtaking vistas like this.
